Evolution of a page

My Muse – notably absent for days now – deigned to join me yesterday. I’d seen a very simple LO in a magazine that appealed to me: 1 photo, die-cut title, and a simple button outline as the only embellishment. (Never mind that I don’t do buttons – a subject for another time.) As I pondered a suitable photo these came to mind, even as the button idea morphed into a hand-stitched embellie the better to show details. An unfinished cross-stitch project yielded the necessary threads.

Somehow that cheeky embroidered bird demanded more than a chipboard title, so I stamped and embossed using outline alpha stamps then ‘painted’ in a mix of distress ink & perfect pearls. Is it imperfect? um… yes. Do I love it? Oh ya! I really must do this more often – it’s an easy albeit somewhat time-consuming technique that really adds to a page.

< While my ink was drying I decided I could get a bit of mileage out of my under-used Tim Holtz branch stamps, which made me also think of the TH frame stamp – perfect for a bit of journaling.

Finished, this page makes me totally happy. It isn't often I start a page without having the whole thing already planned out, but I couldn't be happier with the result. It looks nothing like my inspiration page – I think it’s way better!
